Our Expert Opinion

For entry-level shared hosting, Hostinger offers a lot of flexibility at low initial costs. However, a lack of strong technical support can be an issue when things go wrong. It doesn't offer dedicated servers or true cloud hosting (only cloud-powered shared hosting), and server response times can run a bit slow compared to other hosts.

Multiple Site Types in One Plan

Especially with your first website, you might not be sure what platform you want to build with. Hostinger offers great freedom to swap platforms on their basic shared plans. Managed WordPress, the website builder and other CMS platform hosting are all under one plan. Plus, you can run multiple types at one time without swapping plans.

Hostinger's entry-level plans also include 25 websites, so you can play around with different website builds and platforms all on one account until you find the right one for your needs. It's a great option if you want to learn a new platform without buying a second plan.

Beginner-Friendly Control Panel

Even though I hold a cPanel certification, I am admittedly not a fan of cPanel. While its popularity makes migrations easier when you swap platforms and both use cPanel, I'm a sucker for a well-designed custom control panel that makes it easier for the average user without a technical background.

Hostinger's hPanel, although not my favorite custom control panel (Scala Hosting's SPanel will always have my heart), is a great beginner-friendly tool that takes a lot of the frustration out of hosting for most users.

That said, for more advanced users, you'll probably miss some of the third-party integrations available through cPanel and the unlimited email account support, but hPanel covers more than you might expect, such as blocking specific IP addresses when needed. Like most things hosting, it's a matter of what you need out of the tools.

Kodee, the Actually Helpful Chatbot

With most providers, having to talk to an AI chatbot is enough to make me ragequit. However, Hostinger's Kodee proves it is possible for an AI chatbot to function well. With very few exceptions, Kodee quickly and correctly answers every technical and sales question I throw at it, complete with additional related options that are actually on-topic and helpful.

Kodee is the best AI help chatbot I've found in terms of accurate answers and understanding what you are asking.

The downside is that Kodee is necessary, as talking directly to the technical support team rarely yields such good results.

What Sets Hostinger Apart?

Hostinger stands out among the mega-hosts for what it isn't; that is, it isn't a dumpster fire. Most hosting giants have absolutely shoddy reputations for bait-and-switch pricing, horrible customer service and poor performance. Hostinger, in contrast, is quite usable and generally steady. While Hostinger has its fair share of detractors, and server response times aren't great, it is more stable and far easier to use than most of its direct competitors.

To be fair, these megahosts will never be able to directly compete with service and performance from smaller specialty hosts like Kinsta, NixiHost or Scala Hosting. A megahost like Hostinger is about getting online quickly with one of the best cheap web hosts when you don't need white-glove service or performance.

Hostinger Key Features

As one of the leading megahosts, Hostinger has plenty of resources to support your website hosting. Plus, it's been around since 2004, meaning Hostinger has been in the business for over 20 years. However, one area of concern for some businesses, depending on what regulations you are subject to, is that Hostinger is based in Lithuania, with another office in Indonesia.

Hosting Types

Hostinger offers several different hosting types but focuses heavily on shared hosting. While listed separately, the web hosting, managed WordPress hosting, website builder and cloud hosting are all the same shared plans. The cloud hosting is cloud-powered, not true instantly-scalable pay-by-usage cloud plans like AWS or Google Cloud.

Hostinger also offers VPS hosting, agency plans and a new AI app builder called Horizons, although every test I've run with Horizons has very rough results, and the AI often misunderstands directions. If they could somehow combine the precision of Kodee's LLM with Horizons, it could be a force to be reckoned with.

Plan Resources

Hostinger offers higher website limits than most megahosts. For example, GoDaddy plans generally only include one website per plan, and Bluehost starts at 10 websites per plan, while Hostinger offers a minimum of 25 sites on shared plans.

Likewise, server resources are good with shared plans ranging from 25 GB to 100 GB and unlimited bandwidth. Email is also included in many plans for one year, although some may prefer to opt for a free email account elsewhere to help control costs after the trial plan or a more fully featured business email provider.

Security

Security varies a good bit by plan. The cheapest plan only includes weekly backups as opposed to more costly plans that offer on-demand and daily backups. However, most plans include basic security features such as:

• DDoS protections
• Web application firewall (WAP)
• Cloudflare protected nameservers
• Malware scanning
• WHOIS privacy
• User access management

Hostinger Pricing and Value

While shared hosting is generally the most popular for SMBs, Hostinger also offers VPS hosting for businesses ready to scale up and have more control over server resources without worrying that another Hostinger customer might hog all the bandwidth. VPS plans range from $13.99 to $50.99 monthly after introductory offers expire.

I also like that Hostinger offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for most hosting plans. Additionally, the website builder and WordPress-managed hosting are included with the shared hosting plans. For most users, the swap from introductory pricing to regular pricing will be the biggest concern, as it can more than triple hosting costs.

Is Hostinger Right for Your Business?

Hostinger has a lot going for it, but it might not be the best web hosting for your small business. Whether Hostinger is right for you depends on your budget, technical support needs and website performance requirements.
